A Shot in the Arm: How to Improve Vaccination Policy in Canada
Vaccination has proved a valuable tool in limiting the incidence of infectious diseases, including measles, smallpox and whooping cough, among others.
But Canada’s public health authorities are increasingly concerned that immunization coverage is below target in many regions. In this Commentary, the potential reasons for below-target coverage are explored. A range of policy options for increasing coverage is presented, including better data management and increased clarity in the decision-making process.
